My life will forever be inexplicably changed because of a Pinky Promise handbag by Susan Handleyâ„¢, a very chance meeting, and a desire to make a difference. I hope my story inspires you to do the same.
My daughter and I decided to attend a horse show not far from our home in May of 2009. We were walking through the adjoining craft fair when I saw this amazing fuchsia bag with the tell-tale pink ribbon, and I fell in love. I had to have that bag. My gut told me not for me, but for something bigger than me. I had a vision, but didn’t know where or if it might lead me. So began my love affair with Beijo and it began with the Pinky Promise bag.
I contacted Beijo immediately to learn more and thought maybe I could sell these bags. I loved them and I wanted to own every style, so I decided to become a representative. I will never regret that decision. I even had the opportunity to meet Beijo’s founder, Susan Handley, in person! I cannot express in words how touched I was when Susan hugged me and welcomed me, especially after finding out that she had designed the Pinky Promise handbag for her own mother.
After receiving my first order of bags, I happened to see a childhood friend featured in a nationally advertised beauty magazine as a breast cancer survivor. She was promoting the magazine’s annual walk in order to find a cure and inspiring others to walk with her. I was awestruck. Then it came to me; get Jody that bag.
Jody and I met after 20 plus years apart in October 2009, at the Care 4 Breast Cancer Walk in Woodstock, Illinois. She brought her beautiful daughter and we walked together for the cause. After that, I ordered more Pinky Promise bags and gave them to any organization, survivor, or friend that dedicated themselves to battle this horrible disease. In doing so, I met some of the most inspiring people whom I have ever known…..
I am eternally grateful to Susan Handley. Her vision gives hope.
